After 20 years i have come to believe that since we spend 97% of our time experiencing the world move by at a walking pace, it enhances immersion when games slow down the movement speed, at least for immersive types of games, and of course, imo. Mainly because the movement speed was so fast, it made the game feel like a game, not an experience. I found L4D to be not so immersive when i played in 3D. Looks like you are strafing too. There are plenty of games out there that can be played in VR or 'flat' without any problems. And there was nothing stopping them developing and releasing Portal 3 for the Vive's launch which can be played either in VR or 'flat'. There was absolutely nothing stopping Valve just patching VR support back in. Games not designed with VR in mind generally work pretty well in VR, and with stick locomotion too. And that's if they had released the games as they are at the moment but just with VR support bunged back in without any additional work done. If they, or Sega for that matter, had worked on Half Life 2 VR and Alien Isolation VR with traditional stick locomotion and no teleporting at all and charged $19.99 or even ВЈ19.99 on launch day they would both be rolling in money. The only problems will be with the games' HUDs, but seriously, that's NOT going to take a great deal of work to sort out. And games not made for VR specifically work fine in VR without needing any major work done. Well the majority of the work for Half Life 2 has already been done, they just removed it.

So why deal with any of that when they can just sit back and sell other peoples' VR games? That's free profit, for no expense or effort on their part. Worse, if it was a VR-exclusive on top of that, the 99+% of Steam users that wouldn't be able to play the game would be absolutely outraged.

If you've got a Xbox One controller, you should grab a micro-USB cable and get this set up today. You can see it's got all 10 buttons, 3 axes and the POV hat. Soon the drivers for the Xbox One controller will be available on Windows Update. It also works great, but I frankly prefer a plug-in and remove model, rather than having another adapter. I've previously used the Xbox 360 Controller's 'Wireless Receiver Adapter' for Windows to pair XBox 360 controllers. Everything works smoothly and even vibration feedback is supported. I've played Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite and both worked wonderfully. Any Steam and Windows game that supports standard XInput works great. Even if you don't have an Xbox One, the controller now works on a Windows PC with a standard micro-USB cable.
